Since 1989, Madagascar SOS Children’s Villages, recognized as a public utility has been committed to supporting children deprived of parental care or at risk of being so, as well as families living in difficult conditions. The organization provides essential services in the areas of care, education, health and emergency relief. Madagascar SOS Children’s Villages operates in 7 regions as, Boeny, Analamanga, Atsinanana, Vakinankaratra, Atsimo Andrefana, Androy, Anosy, reaching more than 50,000 people every year.
Every year, international sponsors from various countries provide crucial financial support to vulnerable children and SOS Children’s Villages through regular monetary donations. Their generosity ensures that these children receive education, healthcare, emotional support, and a stable environment where they can thrive.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, sponsors receive two annual updates, one in the middle of the year and another at the end of the year. These personalized letters offer insight into the well-being, progress, and daily lives of their sponsored children. Beyond acknowledging their invaluable contributions, these updates help strengthen the bond of trust between sponsors and SOS Children’s Villages.
As the preparation of the Mid-Year follow-up letters approaches, it becomes essential to ensure the editorial quality of each letter so that it reflects the emotions and values upheld by SOS Childre’s Villages. Special attention to storytelling is necessary to ensure the continuity of sponsorship activities, which play a key role in the development of children.
A storytelling editor recruitment is very crucial as this position will ensure the editing and optimization of the letters content, thereby guaranteeing a level of quality aligned with the organization’s commitment and values.
STORYTELLING EDITOR CONSULTANT
Contract: 4-month Fixed-Term Contract

Position based at: National Office Andrainarivo
Missions :
In close collaboration with interim Sponsorship and Donations Manager, the STORYTELLING EDITOR will be responsible for writing the Mid-Year Sponsorship Letters.
The storytelling editor is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of including but not limited to the following tasks:
- Write anecdotes about children’s lives, young people and sponsored villages according to the quality framework required by the international federation
- Ensure that the content of the story modules reflects positive, emotional and real events
- Ensure that each photo taken aligns with the child’s profile, according to the story and meets the quality framework
- Train and support program staff on all storytelling writing methodologies
- Collaborate with logistics to ensure timely printing and mailing of letters
- Verify the eligibility of children to be included in the sponsorship programs. Particularly ensuring that the legal guardian correctly signs all consents.
Profile:
- University Degree of Bac + 4 in Communication, Business Management or related field,
- At least 4 years of proven experience in writing, photography, and video production for fundraising development (a portfolio must be submitted for shortlisted candidates),
- Demonstrably strong computer skill (MS Microsoft, database, video editing software …)
- Practical working knowledge of child safeguarding and data protection matters
- Excellent skills of both English and French
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, with flexibility in working arrangements if necessary
- Experience of working in an environment with varying cultural backgrounds
- Result-oriented, creative, proactive, sociable
- Cheerful, outgoing and positive, with a passion for communication
